Is "being you" a good thing? It depends. Here are a couple of thoughts on this trendy idea.
There is a lot of talk these days about being who you are and doing what you feel like you need to do to "make you happy". That is true to a point but what if being you is harmful to you and, in turn, hurts those around you?
As a servant leader you cannot just be concerned with being you. It is a fine line and an important point to consider if you are truly interested in being an impactful, transformational leader. That should be the ultimate goal - Becoming that type of leader.
Before "being you" think about:
1) will this result in me losing the trust and respect of those who I serve and lead?
2) will it keep me from becoming the person and leader that I want to ultimately be?
Be You, but don't let it stop you from Becoming!
