An Audience of One

We live in a society and age of judgment. Many times leaders are judged based on the opinion of one person. That one person tells another and the person who listens then adopts what is said as gospel without even knowing the person or leader being judged. It can be an endless cycle.
Have you been the leader and felt the stares and scowls of others? Judgment comes from those you know and those you don't but others jump on the band wagon because they enjoy the thrill of tearing others down. If you've led you have likely felt the stares scowls and even words of those that want to build themselves up by tearing you down.
If we're being honest we will acknowledge that the judgment does bother us to some degree.
When I was younger I loved to have an extra helping at supper time. My metabolism doesn't allow for much of that anymore. I believe that true leaders have been given an extra helping of wisdom, discernment, honesty and the ability to be intentional. Our age or metabolism shouldn't have any impact on our ability to use those extra helpings in our daily leadership journey.
As a leader you have been given a great responsibility to lead, shepherd and guide those you have been called to lead. And that's what it is. A calling. A responsibility. Yes, a responsibility to those you lead but also to who has called you to lead them at this time and in this moment. Don't let any critics distract you from this divine calling. The encouragement today is to have you remember that you should only be concerned with an audience of One. Not the critic.
The critics may be loud at times but remember in the end they don't count. Our goal on this earth is not to please everyone. This is an impossible task. Our mission is to honor God by using the gifts and talents He has given us to their fullest potential. He is the only audience that we ultimately will answer and be responsible to. He is not critical. He only wants our best and the best for us. Honor Him and what he has called you to do.
